Mobile World Congress 2010: Networking Events/ Parties List

This year, I’ll be doing the same, updating the following list and the Socialize Mobilize “Events” page until the Congress kicks off in mid-February 2010.  If you have a party or event you’d like me to add to this list, please send me the details and RSVP requirements.

Sunday, 14 February, 2010:

Join NAVTEQ as they crown the 2010 Global LBS Challenge® winner for the EMEA region.

  • About: “This invite-only event gives you a first-hand look at the finalist solutions and lets you see who wins a share of a prize pool valued at $10 million US. At this exclusive event, meet the contestants and judges who are shaping the location-based solutions industry.”
  • Time: Cocktail reception and contestant showcase begins at 16:30. The Awards announcement will begin at 18:00.
  • Location: Poble Espanyol de Montjuic, City Hall, Ave Marques de Comillas, 13, Barcelona
  • RSVP: Invite only. Announced Feb 4, 2010: WIP has 30 tickets to this event, which they will give to out only to a select few of those that are also attending the WIPJam on Thursday at MWC. Tickets are limited.

Mobile Sunday

  • About: “The fifth annual Mobile Sunday – an unofficial, informal and generally cool and funky gathering of mobile bloggers and their chums”
  • Time: 7pm onward
  • Location: Vintage- c/ Fusina. 7, 08003, Barcelona

  • Cost: free to all registered users of dotopen.com who will also get their company’s logo and pitch shown on the many screens visible at the event.”

Living Labs Global Showcase Awards Ceremony

  • About:Nine Global Cities join forces with Living Labs Global to find the innovative solutions by opening competition among international solution-, technology- and service providers to address major societal problems.  Winners of the Living Labs Global Showcase Award will be invited to pilot their solutions in these cities, proving the effectiveness of new solutions and offering a first step for innovative providers to enter new markets.

Nokia Lounge Open

MEF AGM and Board Elections for MEF Asia and MEF EMEA Chapters

GPS City Games: Barcelona

  • About: We invite you to explore the famous Barcelona city centre in a game play. It´s very simple: 3 teams of cops and 1 gangster. Every team gets a cellphone equipped with a GPS system to use during the game. The cops have to find the gangster and the gangster has to make sure he is not shot by the cops while pulling as many “jobs” as possible to reach 1 million euros at which point he has won the game.     hi Lisa – great list! The official GSMA events you have listed for Thursday 18 Feb actually occur on Tuesday 16 Feb. You can still get in to see the awards and Stephen Fry – just purchase a Gold or Platinum Congress pass. It's the award entries that are now closed.
