Event Description

Operators are in the process of making a strategic transformation, from network-based communications business models providing traditional voice and IP connectivity, to flexible integrated information and multi-media services. Operators can now deliver competitive live and on demand television services to successfully compete with existing digital TV services and capture the attractive and lucrative revenue of residential TV viewers. This has seen many major telephone companies reinventing themselves as media companies.

The next phase of these media services is to combine them with other IP services and to extend their reach to the other screens attached to the operator’s network. Initially this has been the PC and mobile devices, but this is expanding to automotive, tablets and any of the new video capable CE devices. The combined media experience of existing and new IP services and devices is coming to be referred to as the Digital Home.

To really prepare for the Digital Home operators are looking to the next generation of devices, applications and revenue models. This panel session brings together leading players in the creation of new business models that are appearing with the emergence of the Digital Home. A deep understanding of these emerging and potential new business models will be valuable to entrepreneurs, investors and operators interested in the junction between media, operators and business.
